Psalm 92: A Song for the Sabbath
1Â It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
2Â to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
3Â to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
4Â For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
5Â How great are your works, O Lord!
Your thoughts are very deep!
6Â The stupid man cannot know;
the fool cannot understand this:
7Â that though the wicked sprout like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
8Â but you, O Lord, are on high forever.
9Â For behold, your enemies, O Lord,
for behold, your enemies shall perish;
all evildoers shall be scattered.
10 But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil
11Â My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.
12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon
13Â They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in the courts of our God.
14Â They still bear fruit in old age;
they are ever full of sap and green,
15Â to declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Colossians 2:16–17, ESV
16Â Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17Â These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.Â
Romans 14:4–6, ESV
4Â Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5Â One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6Â The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.Â
Romans 14:12–16, ESV
12Â So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. 13Â Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14Â I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15Â For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16Â So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil.
Psalm 104:14–15, ESV
14Â You cause the grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for man to cultivate,
that he may bring forth food from the earth
15Â and wine to gladden the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine
and bread to strengthen man’s heart.
Galatians 5:13–14, ESV
13Â For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14Â For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
1 Cor. 10:31, ESV
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Mark 2:27-28, ESV
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath
Psalm 23, ESV
1Â Â Â Â The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2Â Â Â Â He makes me lie down in green pastures.
     He leads me beside still waters.
3Â Â Â Â He restores my soul.
    He leads me in paths of righteousness
   for his name’s sake.
4Â Â Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
   I will fear no evil,
  for you are with me;
   your rod and your staff,
   they comfort me.
5Â Â You prepare a table before me
   in the presence of my enemies;
   you anoint my head with oil;
   my cup overflows.
6Â Â Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
   all the days of my life,
   and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
