Romans 14:17-19 NLT - 17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. 19 So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.
1. The Kingdom Begins with the King’s Rule in us.
Kingdom - basileia - royal power, kingship, dominion, rule.
Luke 17:20-21 ESV - 20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or 'There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you."
“We want the crown of kingship, but we are lacking the concept of servanthood” - Pastor Nathan Brosher
2. We Become God’s Place of Expression
Matthew 6:10 ESV - 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
· This is the body of Christ becoming a visible expression of an invisible King!
3. The Gifts are not the Kingdom; They are Expressions of the King.
1Corinthians 12:4-7 ESV - 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
The manifestation isn’t the destination. The King is the destination.
When the King becomes more visible it has more to do with transformation instead of manufactured manifestations.
4. A Surrendered Body becomes a Kingdom Instrument.
Romans 12:1 NLT - 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice--the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
God isn’t looking for more spectators. He’s looking for surrendered vessels.
