Romans 8:31-34 NLT - 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one--for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one--for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us.
1. If God is for us?
Isaiah 41:10 NLT - 10 Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Joshua 1:9 ESV - 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
God’s Providence
Ephesians 1:11 NLT - 11 Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.
Hebrews 13:8 NLT – “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever”
Does this change that He is still God?
Genesis 50:20 ESV - 20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
2. Separation
Do you feel separated from God?
Romans 8:35-39 NLT - 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.") 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What causes us to feel separated from Christ’s love then?
Romans 6:23 ESV - 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin acts as a barrier between individuals and God, hindering their ability to hear God's voice or receive His blessings.
Isaiah 59:1-2 ESV - 1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Iniquity – ʿāôn - perversity, depravity, mischief, evil.
God is always fighting for us!
Deuteronomy 20:4 ESV - 4 for the LORD your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.'
God is always there for us!
Hebrews 13:5 NLT - 5 Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you."
God is our resource!
Psalm 46:1 NLT - 1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
