< Back Advent Season: Maranatha Pastor Nate Brosher Dec 7, 2025 1Corinthians 16:21-24 KJV - 21 The salutation of me Paul with my own hand. 22 If any man loves not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. 23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. 1. The Dividing of Humanity Paul said, “If any man loves not the Lord Jesus Christ let him be Anathema.” “Anathema” - Accursed, excommunicated, devoted to the direst of woes. "Maranatha" - "Our Lord, come!" or "Our Lord has come!" Joshua 24:14-15 NLT - 14 "So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD alone. 15 But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD." “Choose today whom you will serve?” 2. The Return of Christ Divides Humanity Those who love Jesus -> Maranatha (Joy, Hope, Reward) Those who reject Jesus -> Anathema (Judgement, cursed, cut-off) The Gospel always carries two realities: 1. Salvation for those who receive Christ Romans 10:11-13 NLT - 11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced." 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For "Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved." Acts 2:21 NLT - 21 But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.' 2. Judgement for those who reject Christ. John 3:18-20 ESV - 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 3. The Emotional Weight Sorrow for those who reject Christ - Anathema Eager expectation for Jesus’ return - Maranatha Isaiah 9:6 ESV - 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Psalm 24:7-10 NLT - 7 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. 8 Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty; the LORD, invincible/mighty in battle. 9 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. 10 Who is the King of glory? < Back Letters from Paul (1 Timothy): House of Honor Pastor Nate Brosher Dec 4, 2025 1Timothy 5:1-4 ESV - 1 Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity. 3 Honor widows who are truly widows. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. 1. Honor the Family of God Honor in Tone: Rebuke - Epiplēssō - To strike upon, beat upon, to chastise with words. 2Timothy 4:2 ESV - 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. Rebuke - Epitimaō - To show honor to, charge sharply. Honor in Purity: Honor in Identity: 2. Honor the “True Widow” 1Timothy 5:3 ESV - 3 Honor widows who are truly widows. Honor means value, support, and dignity. Scripture consistently shows God’s heart towards the widow. Deuteronomy 10:17-18 NLT - 17 "For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. 18 He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing. 1Timothy 5:5-6 ESV - 5 She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day, 6 but she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives. The Character of a “True Widow” The Self-Indulgent Widow Self-Indulgent/Wanton pleasure - Spatalaō - to live luxuriously, lead a voluptuous life, (give oneself to pleasure) 1Timothy 5:4, 8 ESV - 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. ... 8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1Timothy 5:9-10 ESV - 9 Let a widow be enrolled if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband, 10 and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work. Qualifications for supported widows: 1Timothy 5:14 ESV - 14 So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander. 3. Honor Leaders with support and accountability 1Timothy 5:17-22 ESV - 17 Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. 18 For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer deserves his wages." 19 Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 20 As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. 21 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality. 22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure. Elders/Pastors who teach and preach are to be considered worthy of double honor. Honor - “ time” - Value, money paid. Signifies reward, stipend, wages . Let the whole world know what he has done. 9 Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. 10 Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the LORD. 11 Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him. 12 Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given, 13 you children of his servant Israel, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones. 1. Oh, Give Thanks! Psalms 105:1-6 ESV - 1 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! 4 Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! 5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered, 6 O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones! • Why is it easier to groan then to give thanks? Psalms 150:1-6 ESV - 1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! 3 Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! 4 Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! 5 Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! ■ Give thanks to Him anyhow! Hebrews 13:5-6 NLT - 5 Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." 6 So we can say with confidence, "The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?" • Know that He is going to do it! • We must have it His way. Isaiah 40:31 NLT - 31 But those who trust/wait in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Galatians 6:9 NLT - 9 So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV - 1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: • Seasons will come and seasons will go. Ecclesiastes 3:11-12 ESV - 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. < Back Family Matters Pt. 5: Form of Godliness Pastor Nate Brosher Nov 30, 2025 2Timothy 3:1-5 NLT - 1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! 1. Religion without Relationship “Having a form of godliness, but denying/rejecting the power” Power - “Dynamis” - Inherent power, power residing in a thing, moral power and excellence of soul. Are we pretending? Ephesians 1:13-14 NLT - 13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him. ■ Inheritance He Promised. John 14:16-18 NLT - 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans--I will come to you. Romans 8:10-11 ESV - 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. 2. When we deny God’s power, we settle for self-powered Christianity. Pride says, “I can do this myself.” Fear says, “I don’t want to surrender control.” Flesh says, “I want God’s name but my own lifestyle.” ■ Real Godliness invites God to change what I cannot change! < Back Letters from Paul (1 Timothy): A Good Servant Pastor Nate Brosher Nov 20, 2025 1Timothy 4:1-5 NLT - 1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead. 3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. 5 For we know it is made acceptable/holy by the word of God and prayer. 1Timothy 4:6-7 NLT - 6 If you explain these things to the brothers and sisters, Timothy, you will be a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is nourished by the message of faith and the good teaching you have followed. 7 Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. ■ Why are we wasting our time arguing with the Godless? Matthew 7:6 NLT - 6 "Don't waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you. 1. Discernment 1Corinthians 15:32-33 NLT - 32 And what value was there in fighting wild beasts--those people of Ephesus--if there will be no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no resurrection, "Let's feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!" 33 Don't be fooled by those who say such things, for "bad company corrupts good character." Hebrews 12:15 ESV - 15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled. Proverbs 13:20 NLT - 20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. 2. Self-awareness A crowd can either pull you up, pull you down or push you off course. 1Timothy 4:8-11 NLT - 8 "Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." 9 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it. 10 This is why we work hard and continue to struggle, for our hope is in the living God, who is the Savior of all people and particularly of all believers. 11 Teach these things and insist that everyone learn them. ■ How do we train for godliness? ■ Train - “Gynmazo” - to exercise, discipline, practice with effort. Scripture Intake: • Daily Reading • Applying what you read. • Meditation • Memorization We can’t become what we don’t consume. Prayer: • Set times of prayer • Short prayers throughout the day • Honest prayers (not just eloquent ones) • Listening as much as speaking Prayer is not only communication, it’s formation. Worship: • Personal worship • Corporate worship • Consistent gathering with believers What you embrace consistently shapes what you become. 1Timothy 4:12-13, 15-16 NLT - 12 Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 13 Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them. ... 15 Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. < Back Family Matters Pt. 3: Unmasking the Roots Pastor Nate Brosher Nov 16, 2025 1Kings 21:1-15 NLT - 1 Now there was a man named Naboth, from Jezreel, who owned a vineyard in Jezreel beside the palace of King Ahab of Samaria. 2 One day Ahab said to Naboth, "Since your vineyard is so convenient to my palace, I would like to buy it to use as a vegetable garden. I will give you a better vineyard in exchange, or if you prefer, I will pay you for it." 3 But Naboth replied, "The LORD forbid that I should give you the inheritance that was passed down by my ancestors." 4 So Ahab went home angry and sullen because of Naboth's answer. The king went to bed with his face to the wall and refused to eat! 5 "What's the matter?" his wife Jezebel asked him. "What's made you so upset that you're not eating?" 6 "I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!" Ahab told her. 7 "Are you the king of Israel or not?" Jezebel demanded. "Get up and eat something, and don't worry about it. I'll get you Naboth's vineyard!" 8 So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, sealed them with his seal, and sent them to the elders and other leaders of the town where Naboth lived. 9 In her letters she commanded: "Call the citizens together for fasting and prayer, and give Naboth a place of honor. 10 And then seat two scoundrels across from him who will accuse him of cursing God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death." 11 So the elders and other town leaders followed the instructions Jezebel had written in the letters. 12 They called for a fast and put Naboth at a prominent place before the people. 13 Then the two scoundrels came and sat down across from him. And they accused Naboth before all the people, saying, "He cursed God and the king." So, he was dragged outside the town and stoned to death. 14 The town leaders then sent word to Jezebel, "Naboth has been stoned to death." 15 When Jezebel heard the news, she said to Ahab, "You know the vineyard Naboth wouldn't sell you? Well, you can have it now! He's dead!" 1. Root of Rebellion Hebrews 13:17 NLT - 17 Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. 1Samuel 15:23 NKJV - 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king." God equates rebellion with witchcraft. Do we impose our will/agenda on others? 2Kings 9:22 NLT - 22 King Joram demanded, "Do you come in peace, Jehu?" Jehu replied, "How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?" 2. Root of Bitterness Hebrews 12:15 ESV - 15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled. Bitterness will produce sour fruit! (Immorality, lifelong anger, resentment or a pattern of broken relationships.) 3. Root of Bondage Romans 8:15 NKJV - 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." “A root of bondage leads to fear and produces spirits of legalism, depression, servitude, enslavement, and control.” John Paul Jackson 2Corinthians 3:17 ESV - 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 4. Root of Fear Job 3:25 NKJV - 25 For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me. A mindset of fear may begin in childhood. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. 1. Make Allowance Anecho - to sustain, to bear, to endure. Romans 5:18-21 NLT - 18 Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one-person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous. 20 God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. 21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ■ Why are we not giving and showing Grace? Romans 8:1-2 NKJV - 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 6:23 NLT - 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. 2. Forgiveness Colossians 3:13 NLT - forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. • “Church Hurt” Matthew 25:35-40 NLT - 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' 37 "Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' 40 "And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' ■ We are the hands and the feet of Jesus! < Back I Still Believe Devon Fouch Nov 13, 2025 Mark 9:20-24 – “So they brought the boy. But when the evil spirit saw Jesus, it threw the child into a violent convulsion, and he fell to the ground, writhing and foaming at the mouth. “How long has this been happening?” Jesus asked the boy’s father. He replied, “Since he was a little boy. The spirit often throws him into the fire or water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us if you can.” “What do you mean if I can?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” I. How Long? Why would an omniscient God ask a question He already knows the answer to? Jesus never says or does anything unintentionally. The question is an invitation, not an investigation. Jesus acknowledges our suffering to show that before He heals, He listens. Hebrews 4:15- “This High Priest of ours understands our weakness, for he faced all of the same testing we do, yet he did not sin.” Matthew 6:8- “… For your Father knows exactly what you need before you ask.” 1st Peter 5:7- “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” We were created for 2 reasons: 1.) To worship God and 2.) To have relationship with God. True ministry is about developing a faith in Jesus that is rooted in compassion, relationship, and God’s word. II. We Ask The Same Question How many times have we asked God, “How long?” Mark 5:25-26- “A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse.” Mark 5:22-23 – “Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, pleading fervently with him. “My little daughter is dying,” he said. “Please come and lay your hands on her; heal her so she can live.” How many times have we watched God move in other people’s lives while asking “How long before you move in mine?” Genesis 22:1-2 & 5 – “The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God said it would.” “Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born.” III. The Struggle With Unbelief Psalm 145:13- “… The Lord always keeps his promises, he is gracious in all he does.” Romans 8:28 (ESV)- “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” It’s not struggling to believe God can. It’s struggling to believe God will. Why do we question the will of God? Isaiah 55:8-9 – “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are above the Earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” We question the will of God because we don’t understand it. Uncertainty is the child of disappointment. God’s silence is not His absence, but rather His preparation. Our faith must rest on who God has proven Himself to be, not the idea we have made Him up to be in our minds. Doubt isn’t necessarily the disbelief in God’s abilities, but rather the fear our desires don’t align with His will. What do we do when God’s answer is no, not yet, or not the way you want? < Back Love Matters: Unfailing Love Pastor Nate Brosher Feb 11, 2024 1 Corinthians 13:1-7 NKJV 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed [the poor], and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long [and] is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1. The Church should be showing love. We have lost focus on why he chose to come down from heaven to earth and be the sacrificial lamb for the sins of this world. John 3:16 NLT 16 "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:19-21 NLT 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants." What does he want from us? 2. Authentic Love Matthew 18:12-14 NLT 12 "If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn't wander away! 14 In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father's will that even one of these little ones should perish. Jesus says, “it is not my heavenly Father's will that even one of these little ones should perish.” Luke 14:12-14, 17-23 ESV 12 He said also to the man who had invited him, "When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just." ... 17 And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.' 18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.' 19 And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. KJV – Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 1. Work Hard Work Out - carry out to its full perfection. Philippians 2:13 KJV - For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure. Ephesians 1:11 NLT - Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out (carry out to its full perfection) according to his plan. Salvation – noun (Soteria) - deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation. (Deliverance from the molestation of enemies.) Ephesians 2:8 NLT - 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 1 Corinthians 1:18 ESV - 18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 NLT - 14 But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ's triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. 15 Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. 1 Corinthians 15:2 NLT - 2 It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message, I told you--unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. Salvation verb (Sozo) is a process of being saved, being healed, being restored. 2. Repentance 2 Peter 3:9 ESV - 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. Metanoia - a change of mind, as it appears to one who repents, of a purpose he has formed or of something he has done. Can one lose their salvation? Romans 1:21 NLT - 21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. We are all given choices on earth to be obedient or disobedient. Romans 1:28 ESV - 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. Reprobate Mind - To have a reprobate mind means that you are living in deliberate sin, knowing you are sinning against God, and that you are so involved in sinning you could care less about it and the consequences of them. Philippians 2:14-15 NLT - 14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 3. Shine Bright like a diamond Verse 14: Do everything without complaining and arguing. Complaining/Grumbling – ( gongysmos) Murmuring, muttering, a secret debate. Arguing/disputing – ( dialogismos) A thought, inward thinking, questioning about what is true. Philippians 2:16-18 NLT - 16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ's return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. 17 But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. He is our brother and God's co-worker in proclaiming the Good News of Christ. We sent him to strengthen you, to encourage you in your faith, 1. There is a cost Have we become so numb to our lifestyle that we have forgotten our purpose as followers of Christ? 1 Thessalonians 3:3-5 NLT - 3 and to keep you from being shaken by the troubles you were going through. But you know that we are destined for such troubles. 4 Even while we were with you, we warned you that troubles would soon come--and they did, as you well know. 5 That is why, when I could bear it no longer, I sent Timothy to find out whether your faith was still strong. I was afraid that the tempter had gotten the best of you and that our work had been useless. 2. Handling Pressure How do we deal with such troubles? 2Timothy 1:7 NKJV - 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2Timothy 1:8-10, 12 NKJV - 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called [us] with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, [who] has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, ... 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. Pressure will revolt against us. Whose report are we believing? 1Thessalonians 3:6-8 NLT - 6 But now Timothy has just returned, bringing us good news about your faith and love. He reports that you always remember our visit with joy and that you want to see us as much as we want to see you. 7 So we have been greatly encouraged in the midst of our troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. 8 It gives us new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. 3. Encouraged in our troubles 1Thessalonians 3:9-13 NLT - 9 How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God's presence. 10 Night and day we pray earnestly for you, asking God to let us see you again to fill the gaps in your faith. 11 May God our Father and our Lord Jesus bring us to you very soon. 12 And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows. 13 May he, as a result, make your hearts strong, blameless, and holy as you stand before God our Father when our Lord Jesus comes again with all his holy people.
